PBS is supplied as white instant granules. Each bag yields 1 L of 1× PBS buffer, offering simple preparation and convenient use. The main components include sodium chloride, potassium chloride, and phosphate. The resulting 1× PBS buffer contains 137 mM sodium chloride, 2.7 mM potassium chloride, and 10 mM phosphate.
PBS is a widely used buffer in biological research and is suitable for immunoassays, microbiological studies, and protein biochemistry experiments. When a PBS solution prepared from the instant granules is sterilized using a 0.22 μm filtration unit, it can be applied to cell culture, washing steps, and other related procedures.
