Ponceau S is a commonly used protein staining reagent. The reagent carries a negative charge and can bind to positively charged amino acid residues as well as hydrophobic regions of proteins, producing clear red bands on blotting membranes.
This interaction is reversible, allowing the stain to be easily removed by washing with distilled water or PBS buffer without affecting subsequent experiments.
This product is suitable for detecting proteins on PVDF or nitrocellulose (NC) membranes in Western blot experiments and can be used to evaluate protein transfer efficiency.
The reagent offers high sensitivity and ease of use, with a protein detection limit of approximately 250 ng.
