Field Application Scientist (FAS) – Western Blot Instrumentation
FLSA Status: San Diego, CA (Field-based role supporting customers nationwide)
Job Summary
We are seeking a Field Application Scientist (FAS) to support our dedicated Western blot instrument platform. This role requires strong hands-on expertise in Western blot workflows and troubleshooting. Experience in imaging and cell culture is preferred, as it enables broader application support across related workflows and additional product lines.
This position is a 50/50 hybrid of pre-sales and post-sales responsibilities and involves frequent hands-on experimental work. The FAS will work closely with academic and biotech/pharma customers, as well as internal sales, engineering, and product teams, to ensure successful deployment, adoption, and optimization of our instruments.
Key Responsibilities
1. Pre-Sales Support (≈50%)
Support the sales team with technical presentations, product demonstrations, and customer evaluations.
Perform hands-on demonstrations of Western blot workflows using company instruments.
Discuss experimental design, assay performance, and workflow optimization with prospective customers.
Support feasibility studies and proof-of-concept experiments.
2. Post-Sales & Field Support (≈50%)
Provide on-site and remote installation, application training, and technical support.
Train customers on instrument operation, Western blot workflows, and best practices.
Troubleshoot experimental, workflow, and application-related issues.
Serve as the primary technical contact during customer onboarding and early adoption.
3. Application Development & Feedback
Optimize and validate Western blot applications on automated instrumentation.
Support development of related workflows involving imaging and cell-based experiments.
Collect customer feedback and translate field insights into actionable input for R&D and product teams.
Contribute to application notes, protocols, FAQs, and internal documentation.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate closely with sales, service, engineering, and product management teams.
Support internal training for sales and service staff as needed.
Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and field activities.
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or a related field.
Strong hands-on experience with Western blot experiments (required).
2–3 years of laboratory experience (academic or industry).
Solid understanding of experimental design, data interpretation, and troubleshooting.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Willingness to travel approximately 40% within the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications
Hands-on experience with cell culture.
Experience with imaging-based assays or microscopy (e.g., fluorescence imaging, blot imaging, cell imaging).
Familiarity with automated laboratory instruments or workflows.
Prior customer-facing experience (FAS, Application Scientist, Technical Support, or similar).

About the Role
We are seeking a Scientific Content Writer with a strong background in biology or microscopy to create high-quality, application-focused content for Expansion Microscopy (EXM) and related cell biology products.
This part-time, project-based role involves translating complex scientific concepts into clear, engaging, and technically accurate writing that helps researchers understand how YamayBio’s EXM kits and reagents can enhance imaging workflows and data quality. The content will be used in product guides, application notes, educational materials, and marketing communications for both scientific users and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
Write and edit scientific content focused on Expansion Microscopy (EXM), cell biology, and related imaging applications
Develop product application notes, user guides, and educational articles explaining product use cases and benefits
Collaborate with the marketing and sales teams to ensure technical accuracy in all written materials
Create or adapt figures, diagrams, and data visuals to support content clarity
Communicate complex biological concepts in a concise and accessible way
Ensure consistency with YamayBio’s scientific tone and brand messaging
Requirements
Ph.D. in Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or a related field (microscopy or imaging background preferred)

Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain relationships with customers in the San Diego region, including universities, biotech companies, and research labs
Promote and sell Yamaybio’s products, focusing on Western Blot reagents and related tools
Conduct product presentations and technical discussions with scientists and purchasing teams
